GFI’s weather brokerage desks are based in New York, and the weather derivatives data is available for the North American region.
Weather contracts are mostly traded over the counter and cover most of the US. The contracts traded are swaps, strips and spreads. The swaps are forward trade monthly contracts. A spread contract is the difference between two swap contracts within one region cut or the difference between two contracts of the same period but in two different region cuts.
GFI generates a CSV file that is available each night on its FTP site for customers to download. This end of day file contains the bid & offer prices of the day. The file also contains the static data for each contract. Customer prices are available via end of day reports sent by the brokers.
